MBFW - The Week That Was Fashion

The world's fashion elite congregated at the Lincoln Centre in New York this past week to be witness to the up and coming Spring 2015 collections from endless designer names including Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Mara Hoffman, Rachel Zoe to Australia's own Zimmerman.

Carolina Herrera was at the forefront of the fashion world well before Olivia Palmero opted for a sweet cardigan shorts and a tulle overlay as her wedding dress and looking at her new Spring collection there is no doubt as to why.

From a young age Carolina was sought to develop an inspiring style of sense with her grandmother introducing her into the world of fashion through attending Balenciaga shows and gifting her grand daughter pieces by Lanvin and Dior. Her socialite fashion status was created through the doors of Studio 54 with her accompaniments including Bianca and Mick Jaggar as well as Andy Warhol.

Her development into the designer world came when at time editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland suggested to her best friend to create a clothing line and so she did just that.

Herrera's 2015 Spring Collection defined the woman within the influential designer through her thoughts of " "My eye was accustomed to see pretty things".

The "location" of a garden styled themed runway with green sculpted fixtures set the scene for a journey of simplicity with focus on intricate detailing with models weaving throughout the audience in a maze like sequence. Frow attendees included fashion royalty in Anna Wintour, Bill Cunningham, Grace Coddington, Olivia Palmero just to name a few.

The collection as described by Herrera is simplistic lines for the now.

The simplistic elegance of the collection in the white hues and graphic prints to the dramatic silhouettes and stylised cuts drew my eye to the designer with complimentary sculptured hair styling within their fresh faced models.

Stockists for the Herrera label can be found in Harrods and Saks Fifth Avenue.
