MBFW - The Week That Was Fashion

The world's fashion elite congregated at the Lincoln Centre in New York this past week to be witness to the up and coming Spring 2015 collections from endless designer names including Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Mara Hoffman, Rachel Zoe to Australia's own Zimmerman.

Carolina Herrera was at the forefront of the fashion world well before Olivia Palmero opted for a sweet cardigan shorts and a tulle overlay as her wedding dress and looking at her new Spring collection there is no doubt as to why.

From a young age Carolina was sought to develop an inspiring style of sense with her grandmother introducing her into the world of fashion through attending Balenciaga shows and gifting her grand daughter pieces by Lanvin and Dior. Her socialite fashion status was created through the doors of Studio 54 with her accompaniments including Bianca and Mick Jaggar as well as Andy Warhol.

Her development into the designer world came when at time editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland suggested to her best friend to create a clothing line and so she did just that.

Herrera's 2015 Spring Collection defined the woman within the influential designer through her thoughts of " "My eye was accustomed to see pretty things".

The "location" of a garden styled themed runway with green sculpted fixtures set the scene for a journey of simplicity with focus on intricate detailing with models weaving throughout the audience in a maze like sequence. Frow attendees included fashion royalty in Anna Wintour, Bill Cunningham, Grace Coddington, Olivia Palmero just to name a few.

The collection as described by Herrera is simplistic lines for the now.

The simplistic elegance of the collection in the white hues and graphic prints to the dramatic silhouettes and stylised cuts drew my eye to the designer with complimentary sculptured hair styling within their fresh faced models.

Stockists for the Herrera label can be found in Harrods and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Backstage To Runway

A white envelope of sheer hues surfaced as the finale for the Myer Spring Summer launch 2015 showcased at Carriageworks, Sydney last week.

Within the past two weeks I have been surrounded by the most inspirational and talented people in the industry working backstage for the pre show prep.

Sighting the collections from backstage to runway draws a new perspective of how much hard work and time is collated in the lead up to the show, which will forever instil in me that dedication and love for your work brings reward and success.

The collection themselves derived from the campaign shot on location in Fiji. Models were adorned
with pastel toned hair, with detailing of feather embellished flats and decadent Swarovski jewels.

The finale saw the entire production of models floating effortlessly down the runway barefoot
sporting all white looks introducing one of the key trends that will be seen this Spring Summer.

This experience will forever be one that I feel will be one of those moments in years to come that I refer back to with excitement and privilege that I was able to work alongside industry greats and be a part of such a dynamic inspiring team.

Magazine Moguls

Imagery, wording and the impressionable façade of a fashion magazine is the key purpose to delving into the chic, sophisticated world of print and engaging its audience and demographic.

Vogue has been at the forefront of the magazine moguls worldwide and delivers these figures with reason and stance in their structure and content. Encompassing a growth of readers between 25-40 Vogue has edition after edition surfaced with a fresh new look enticing their followers to download that issue or purchase their latest musings in print.

The July edition delivers a chic and slightly sensual cover capturing Miranda with subtle elegance with a taste of yesteryear in the soft hues and brooch detailing. The back drop of the cover is balanced to perfection with the different tones of colourings with the mix of different style of fonts.

Miranda is an eloquent figure with the fashion industry as is Vogue, pairing of these two dynamites was sure to deliver an issue that just needs to be viewed.

Fashion in review is delivered seamlessly and reported to its wide range demographic of 18-39 for the Elle woman.

A magazine with purpose to differentiate from their fellow industry counter parts with unique edgy covers. July edition of Nicole Ritchie delivers both of these tones with a killer statement outfit softened by the quietly spoken hues of pink.

Contrast in the headings from texts and styles broadens the eye to all locations of the page and captures the readers attention.

Nicole Ritchie is a fashion icon within herself and mixed with the fresh faced Elle incorporates all the prerequisites of being an Elle woman!

Harper's Bazaar exudes sophistication and chic from days gone by ensuring their May 2014 edition presented these iconic characteristics that Harper's is renowned for.

A perfect collaboration delivering the wants and needs of their 25-39 demographic in female force and the luxury of the high end fashion labels.

Placement of the image with underlying soft hues portrays a ladylike agenda with a force to be reckoned with in simplistic yet empowering pieces in the styling.
